Siege Troops

Bards have sung legends of many great battles, but perhaps the most memorable of these are those fought to claim massive fortresses. These places are particularly difficult to seize, making them important points of interest in any war. For as long as walls have been built, people have been figuring out creative ways to tear them down. Successful assaults of such strongholds are often the turning point in long-fought wars of attrition.

Troop-scale combat: The following characters are ‘troop scale.’ That means a single stat block does not represent one person. Instead, a single stat block represents an entire group of soldiers. Battlefields for these soldiers would have zones as large, army sized swaths of land. See Sundry Sunday (#46) for guidelines on how to use troop-scale characters.

Mobile Staircase

When the mobile stair towers are adjacent to a wall or tower with a walkable top, soldiers can ascend or descend the staircase within to negate any negative aspects related to scaling the wall. Additionally, the attendants of the mobile stair towers can create an advantage to make the towers Locked on to the walls using Engineered for war (Crafts).
