Dire Wolf Rider

Dire wolves are one of the most ferocious beasts that a commoner might actually have a run in with. They can occasionally be found hunting in forests, sleeping in caves, or attacking well-traveled roads. They are big, their shoulder height easily rivals that of a man. They are known for toying with their food- typically their sheer size and velocity can outmatch any prey they would hunt. Due to this, most creatures and people avoid them at any opportunity.

Orcs, however, take a different approach when encountering dire wolves. Where others see a dangerous beast that is not worth trifling with, the Orcs see a potential weapon. It is well accepted that dire wolves cannot be tamed. Instead of letting that get in their way, Orcish dire wolf riders enter into a tenuous relationship with the beasts, often using dominance (rather than companionship) as their main method to keep them in line.

Play with my food

After a dire wolf hits with a Maul (Fight) attack, the target of the attack is dragged with the dire wolf if it moves zones for the remainder of its turn. If this happens, the target of the attack must make an overcome check with Physique or Athletics not to fall Prone. The difficulty is equal to the shifts of the Maul (Fight) attack.

Out of control

When the dire wolf’s rider is taken out or separated from the dire wolf, it goes into a mad frenzy. The wolf will not treat any character in the scene as friendly, since it simply cannot tell the difference. Additionally, when the dire wolf makes an attack against a character that attacked them since their last turn, they add +1 to the roll

In Sync

While the dire wolf rider is mounted on their dire wolf, treat them as the same character. Skills and stunts from both are available to the character, but their stress tracks remain separate.

Ride or Die

Dire wolf riders chain their wrists to the collar of their dire wolves as a show of dominance. This also doubles as a method of remaining mounted on their beast. The dire wolf rider gains a +2 on checks to resist being dismounted. Also, the dire wolf and rider cannot move into separate zones until the Chained to the beast aspect is removed
